After completing additional training, physiotherapists and chiropractors can utilize dry needling or IMS for the treatment of pain and movement impairments. It involves the use of a thin monofilament needle (commonly referred to as an acupuncture needle) to release tender trigger points in muscles. In addition to extensive training for treating orthopaedic conditions, Cheryl Richardson hold certification from the University of British Columbia to perform Gunn IMS dry needling. Jordan Kersten holds certification from McMaster University in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture. Emma Tallman is completing her dry needling certification at Western University in the Integrated Dry Needling (IDN) program.
